Mid-Term Propsal UPDATE // Nov 2, 2014
Once again I am going to be pursuing this idea that art is more than what people think it is. I will be doing this in the form of a video. So a lot of my progression is pre-production based. I have a set idea on how I want my film to look. I actually already chose a song for the piece, the song is in my work cited of my other post below. I will edit the song to make it original and also to make the length longer. But the main work I have been doing is trying to find out who I could interview. So far I have two professors from Rutgers that I am thinking on interviewing. One of them I already set a date on when I am interviewing him. I also am going to interview a street violinist from NYC (She is in my previous video), she is a working artist. I will then look for a student who is pursuing art in a serious matter. I have a friend who goes to Wagner in NY, she is pursuing acting, dancing and theatre as a career. I am planning on interviewing her as well.
(New York Street Artist)
That will be the majority of my work. However, I still need to get a lot of B-Roll of each of these people. I have attached a link to a reference of a type of video I want to follow. It is really the interviews that I want to show, the lighting and audio are high quality and I want to match something similar to this. Nothing on my work cited or my resource list has changed as of now, I will update if necessary. Other than that this is what I have done so far, so stay tuned!

For my semester project I will be pursing the idea that art is more than what
people think it is. I will focus on art as a career and art in general. In my own
experience I have noticed that art is a career that is looked at as unsuccessful.
Most business, law, or nursing majors see art as a simple and somewhat easy major. I want to prove to everyone who believes this that it is not true. Art can be just as successful as any other career, if not more successful.
I also want to show that art is something that everyone experiences everyday of their lives. I will be showing all of this in the form of a video. It will be a cross between a music video and a documentary. I will be interviewing 3-4 participants that are either aspiring artists or already successful ones. Some might be professors here at Rutgers others might be high school and college students from NJ and NY.
Something important to note is that I took imagery and culture last semester and I did a project with this same topic. So this project will build off my previous one. I have added the link to my old project since my current project will have a very similar vibe to it. I will produce it very similarly to my previous project when it comes to the lighting, angles, style of editing, etc.
As a video maker I am excited to create this project and see how it can effect people. I want all artists that are in this area to hopefully see this and become inspired by it. My previous project was titled Art Is More based on the themes of the video. Since this video will have similar themes I thought it was appropriate to title this project, Art Is More 2.0.

It is a pretty compelling argument that the President makes, so I believe you need to not just say "we disagree" with art as a viable career path, but give data that would perhaps contradict the Presidents views. If you could show the salaries of some very successful artists, or how much some artists can make in a night, it would help make your argument that as a career path, art is worth pursuing. Good luck!
